Celebrate World Water Day and Win

Written on 09 Mar 2014

World Water Day is once again upon us, but what does that really mean? What is World Water Day?

World Water Day has been observed on 22 March since 1993 when the United Nations General Assembly declared 22 March as "World Day for Water". The UN and its member nations devote this day to implementing UN recommendations and promoting concrete activities within their countries regarding the world's water resources. Each year has a different theme and initiative, this years theme is Water and Energy. This is the time to focus public attention on the critical water issues of our era and one of the major problems we are facing is plastic water bottles. They not only create an incredible amount of waste, but they also poison our water supply. The very thing we think is keeping are water safe is one of the largest factors for making it unsafe.

"GLOBALLY 2.7 MILLION TONS OF WATER BOTTLE PLASTIC IS USED ANNUALLY."

What can you do about it? Simple, take the TAP Pledge to travel more responsibly and plan to treat your own water while abroad. This is a practice you could be doing at home as well. To make it easier for you we are giving away an AWESOME GRAYL Water Filtration bottle + purifier ($110 Value) to clean and filter your own water on the go! Take the TAP Pledge before March 22nd to be entered to win. We'll announce the winner of the World Water Day (March 22, 2014).

TAP Crew, Chris Mackay and Jonathan Burnham have been testing the GRAYL out the past week and love it! Chris Mackay has been in the Sierra Nevada’s and said this “I love knowing I have filtered purified water on the go”

Note: You must pledge to be entered into the contest.

Need more reasons to use a reusable bottle? Here are our top reason to avoid disposable plastic water bottles:

1. Help prevent the pollution associated with making water bottles, which amounts to ¼ of a bottle of oil per bottle made.
2. Avoid drinking a slew of chemicals including antimony found in PET bottles which are known endocrine disruptors.
3. Save yourself a load of money. If tap water cost the same as bottled water your monthly water bill would be about 9,000 dollars.

Why do you avoid using plastic water bottles? Leave a comment and tell us!

Sincerely,

The TAP Crew
